Med-City Kids Marathon

About 3 months ago Sarah joined the Jefferson Jogging Club at her school.  They get together every Tuesday morning before school and run.  She has really enjoyed it.

They tracked their miles for the 8 weeks and added any runs they did at home to the tally.  Sarah went each Saturday for a 2-2 1/2 mile run with either her dad or myself.

We had some fun runs together and even got lost one time while trail running in Quarry Hill.  ;)

She completed 25 miles then ran the last 1.2 miles today at the Kids Med-City Marathon.  They each got medals for all of their hard work.

Sarah enjoyed it so much she wants to continue running with the Jogging Club until school gets out and going on runs with Mom and Dad on Saturdays.  I am pretty proud of my Queenie!

Baby Curls

As the humidity increases Lily's hair get a little more curl in it.  I think it is very cute.  Here are a few pictures.

I also loved this one of Sarah trying to practice piano this week.

He did it!

We enjoyed a little trip this past weekend to Brookings, SD. We stopped on our way in New Ulm, Minnesota and listened to the Glockenspiel. New Ulm is a little town founded by German immigrants and you can definitely tell. They have a large shopping center called the Marketplatz and a large Glockenspiel in the center of town. We didn't have a lot of time to spend there. Someday I would like to go back and find some good German food, but we were limited on time.

We also drove through Walnut Grove, MN. Not too impressed, but maybe you have to go during the Laura Ingalls Wilder days. We didn't really see anything and the kids were engrossed in their DVD so we continued driving.

We checked into our hotel and then I ran my 5k. After my race we enjoyed swimming in the pool at our hotel. Then to bed so Dave could be ready for his race.

We got up early and took Dave to the start line for his Marathon.

I also took a video of the finish and it was really nice. I zoomed in on his time as he ran past the finish, but I also forgot to push record....so just imagine it was awesome and I got a little teary eyed because he had worked so hard and then did 5 minutes better than he thought he would. The announcer said as he ran over the finish "Coming up to the finish line is David Sanderson of Rochester, Mn. He is running this race for his daughters Lily and Sarah and his son Iven Alex." It was so nice. I feel bad I didn't get it for posterity! So here it is in pictures instead.

He finished in 3:05:40. He was 5th overall. 4th in the Men's and 1st in his age group. I was pretty impressed. He won a pair of socks and a plaque. It was so fun. He worked very hard for that time and we couldn't be more proud of him.

I'm Famous

I tried to quietly run a 5k on Friday before Dave's marathon.  I even told a couple people before it started I am just here to run not to race.  But in the end I did get a little competitive when the walker/sprinter girls kept passing me and then stopping.  ARRRG!!!!  They passed me right at the finish line just to rub it in.  :)  I got over it pretty quickly when to my surprise the next morning I picked up the local paper and I had made front page news.

Yep. That's me.  It was a beautiful evening and I enjoyed it.  I am not fast and probably never will be, but I loved running and feeling a sense of accomplishment.  I am a big girl and running doesn't come easy.  It gives me energy to take care of my kids and helps me have time to relax.

I am not sure what Sarah and Alex were doing in this picture.  Sillyness.

The real highpoint of our trip to Brookings, SD was Dave's marathon.  I will post about it tonight once the kids get into bed and I have some time to myself.

The Hu Hot High Pants Dolphins Soccer Team

Sarah has been enjoying Spring Soccer this year.  This is her 4th year of soccer and she is getting really good.  She has 2 best friends on her team and lots of other girls she knows from last year.
They are all very nice girls.

On Saturday we went to her 2nd game and enjoyed watching her play.

It was a beautiful day.  We all enjoyed the sunshine and soccer.

Their team is sponsored by a Mongolian BBQ restaurant called Hu Hot and they gave themselves the name the Dolphins...somewhere along the line they started calling themselves the Hu Hot High Pants and you will see in the following pictures them demonstrating the "High Pants" part.
